Meet the Wang Family — Howard and April and their son, Henry. This was one of the most fun family portrait shoots I’ve done this year because Henry was such a dose of happy energy. And clearly Howard and April love him to pieces, as you can see in these photos.

We met at Jack’s Pond in San Marcos, which has a barn and live animals and lots of great space to run around. Henry is at the age where he wants to walk (or run) everywhere, so we followed him around and enjoyed being on his level and exploring the world through his eyes for a little while.

Howard is an Optometrist — he has a beautiful practice called Modern Eyes Optometry in Carlsbad, CA. April works with him at the practice. The two of them are a great pair and their calming presence and sense of style are evident as soon as you walk into their retail store/doctor’s office in the La Costa Town Square location.

I had met Howard and April for a business photoshoot at Modern Eyes Optometry prior to the family session — and I asked about Henry and what kind of little one he was (knowing I would be photographing them as a family soon after) and they both said he’s a great little boy who’s always happy. And you know what? They were right!! He is such a delight, I am so excited to share these photos with you because his smile just makes me smile every time I look at these photos.
