An honest update in this season of uncertainty
As a small business owner, the happenings of this world have deeply impacted my business and my ability to create photos for my tribe of clients.
This time has been devastating to many small business owners. I’ve been talking non-stop with others, like me, who have seen their livelihood come to a screeching halt without warning or time to prepare.
I’ve stayed relatively silent on this topic, my conversations have been reserved to private communities, masterminds, and networking groups I’m grateful to be a part of.
But in an effort to be transparent and with a heavy dose of vulnerability, I wanted to give you a little insight into what’s currently happening in my business.
As you can imagine, my portrait photography business has been greatly impacted.
I have a beautiful photo studio which has stood empty for weeks.
The empty photo studio is symbolic of my entire business…
I had an incredible line-up of clients on my calendar for March, April and May of this year. One by one, each of those scheduled shoots had to be removed from my calendar. Each time I removed a photoshoot from my calendar it caused an unbearable emotion of loss inside of me.
I have found myself in tears trying to navigate the un-familiar system of unemployment and Small Business assistant programs.
And I KNOW there are so many small business owners who are suffering worse than me. My heart goes out to all of them, I can empathize so completely when I hear their stories.
I have been riding a roller coaster of fear and uncertainty and confusion. Will I be able to keep my business afloat if the shut-down lasts months longer?
But despite what I just shared, it has NOT been all doom and gloom over here.
I have been busy working on multiple marketing projects. Some of them have been on the back burner for years, so “yay” for the time to work on future marketing plans!
I have been writing blog posts and I’ve been creating content for my business. I’ve been filming myself and editing videos – stay tuned for those.
I have been participating in countless Zoom calls, staying connected with my networking and masterminding and business coaching communities.
I’ve been connecting with new people and participating in virtual coffee dates and happy hours.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been getting many inquiries and requests for photoshoots – that lights my heart up in a huge way!!!!
