Behind the scenes of photo retouching
Ok, friends, let’s talk about retouching.
Otherwise known as “Photoshopping”, “air brushing”, “social media filters” … whatever you call it, the power of retouching photos (when done well) can take a great photo and make it spectacular.
However, if your photo retoucher over-uses Photoshop OR if YOU go a little overboard with the social media filters, it can make your photos look very altered and unnatural.
Fake, filtered, blurry, over-retouched … these are NOT words you want people to think when they look at your photo.
When it comes to portraits and retouching, I want to make it look like I caught you on your best day. I DON’T want to make you look like a different person.
Take a look at these images …
These before and after photos demonstrate the power of SUBTLE professional retouching. This is what magazine-quality retouching looks like.
Retouching includes color correction, removing stray hairs, whitening teeth and eyes, reducing shine in the skin, removing blemishes, cleaning up wrinkled clothing, and removing objects from the background.
Professional retouching is always included in my photoshoot package.
When clients look at their photos, I want them to see themselves — their real, beautiful, flawed selves — in their truest form. My job isn’t to create perfection, my job is to capture and showcase you at your best. And to give you photos that you’ll be proud to share.
Feel free to leave me a comment – What do you think of retouching? Do you like the idea or is it off-putting to you? I’d love to hear what you think!

They are subtle but a made a huge difference. Bravo! 🙌🏽 🎉💜
You know the magic of retouching … thanks for the comment!!
This is how touch-ups should be done! Improves the photo without looking overly photoshopped – it just enhances what is already in the photo.
Thank you so much for the comment!!
