Kay Trotman was one of the most fun clients I had the pleasure of working with! Not only am I so inspired to go to Tanzania on a safari, but I truly feel like I have a new aunty in my life. That’s the magic of “Safari Kay” and the warm effect she has on people.

Kay’s journey to becoming a safari host in Tanzania started when Kay was at an extremely low point in her life. After a debilitating car crash, followed shortly by the death of two of her brothers, Kay was at her lowest. She had retired from a life-long career in human resources and coping with heartbreak, and decided that she needed to live life to the fullest, to honor her brothers who died suddenly.

So Kay decided to book a trip to Tanzania. Her first trip to Africa inspired her so much, that she knew she needed to find a way to come back to the beautiful country that felt like home to her.

“Safari Kay” launched her travel company, and decided to specialize in safaris to Tanzania. Now she hosts multiple trips each year, and takes her guests into some of the most beautiful guest houses and “glamping” sites. 

Kay’s home is a beautiful museum-like sanctuary that is colorful and vibrant (just like her!) so this is where we did the photoshoot. She also has a closet full of gorgeous clothing and jewelry, so I got a front row seat to a fashion show starring Safari Kay!
