3 Generations Family Portraits + Video | Oceanside, CA | Marcy Browe Photography

The Powers family traveled from all corners of the country to gather in Oceanside to celebrate their mother / grandmother’s 80th birthday. From Massachusetts and Oregon, three generations of this family came together a few days after Christmas, and I was lucky enough to document them and capture their connections.

Not only did I do portraits of this gang, but I interviewed each member of the family on video before the photo shoot. A week after this gathering, Mimi received an emotion-filled video tribute from her family. (You can see the Powers Family Keepsake Package video here)

Mimi, as she is known to her nine grandchildren, is a very involved grandmother and has left an incredibly powerful impression on each one of them. As I listened to them tell me about how much she meant to them, it was hard for me to not get emotional from all the love and gratitude they expressed. (Okay, I get misty easily, but even editing the video I still got choked up … imagine how Mimi felt hearing all of this love expressed from her family)

I also interviewed Jean’s 4 children and they shared stories about growing up in Andover, Massachusetts. The kids, who are all parents themselves, each expressed how much their mother’s presence shaped their lives and influenced them as parents. They shared photos from their childhood, which were incorporated into the video.

It is projects like this that are truly rewarding for me to produce. To document family memories is something that I love doing, and I’m so grateful that I get to this for a living!!
