Kirsten Pursell is a brave woman: she has published an unfiltered memoir lifted directly from the pages of her teen-age diaries. She leaves nothing out, and this is what makes her book a fascinating read!!
She recently released On Becoming Me: Memoir of an 80’s Teenager which is a reflective look back on her turbulent teenage years. This is the story of a confident young girl who became a lost teenager, wanted to disappear, started to find herself, discovered love, was wild, reckless, and confused, but ultimately found a way to be okay. Told in her words as she lived them through her diaries, journals, poetry, and letters.
I had the pleasure of capturing the adult Kirsten, a women who has raised 3 adult children and is comfortable and confident in her 50 year old skin.
Thank you Kirsten for being so honest and vulnerable! I read her book and I totally saw myself in the teenager who pours her heart out to her journals. I related to her story in every way! This a great book to get a young teenager in your life, it’s funny and relatable and a book you can’t put down.
I love this, Marcy! Thank you for supporting me in this celebration of where I have landed! I had the absolute time of my life that afternoon with you. I didn’t know you when I walked in, but felt like I left with a friend when I walked out. You are an amazing photographer!
Thank you for the kind words, you were a joy to photograph and I loved reading about your teen years!!!! You’re in a great place Kirsten 🙂
