The COVID Wake-Up Call: Women are Embracing Entrepreneurship
Did you know that post-COVID, nearly 50% of entrepreneurs are now women? This is way up from the pre-pandemic rate of 29% of women business owners.
The pandemic shook things up for everyone, blurring the lines between work and home life.
But for women in particular, that balancing act became even more intense. Juggling career demands while taking on more at home pushed many to step back and rethink their paths.
It sparked a big question: What else is out there?
Or as Ali Wong so hilariously sums it up in this clip “Necesito Mas”, I need more!!
In a survey done by Create & Cultivate, they found that 83% of working women want to start their own business, while 55% of working women are already working on their side hustle while also working a full-time job.
Women are diving head first into the world of entrepreneurship – and I am here to celebrate that!!
This trend is EXACTLY what I noticed in the early years of Covid lock-downs and restrictions: women were coming out of the woodwork ready to launch a long-held business idea. Perhaps Covid gave them a necessary pause to work on their side hustle. It could be that some women were laid off or saw their job demands shift and they had a sudden motivation to “stop waiting”. Or maybe these women finally had the courage and nudge to “start the damn thing”.
Whatever the motivator, during Covid times, women were reaching out to me consistently because they wanted branding photos to help them promote their project and market their products and offerings.
